Esta primera serie de dibujos, que toma como ejes temáticos centrales el tiempo y la muerte, tiene como punto de partida un cráneo humano que heredé de mi abuelo materno, que era médico y lo había utilizado en sus estudios universitarios. Observé y dibujé mucho esa calavera. Pasado un tiempo, hice a un lado la mera asociación afectiva con el modelo y me interesé en un enfoque mucho más frío y descriptivo de su morfología anatómica. 

   Paralelamente empecé a coleccionar, comparar y representar cráneos de otros mamíferos (y algunas aves), hasta conformar finalmente una serie de retratos de vestigios animales de origen diverso e idéntico destino final. Pienso estos dibujos como una consideración sobre la igualdad de condiciones de todo lo vivo frente a la muerte, y sobre la pérdida de rasgos identitarios a la que se someten las cabezas que paulatinamente se van limpiando y blanqueando. 

   Aquí, la naturaleza mineral de los huesos señala el paso inexorable del tiempo.

   This first series of drawings, which takes time and death as central themes, has as its starting point a human skull that I inherited from my maternal grandfather, who was a doctor and had used it in his University studies. I watched and drew that skull a lot. After a while, I put aside the mere affective association with the model and became interested in a much colder and more descriptive approach to its anatomical morphology.

   At the same time, I began to collect, compare and represent skulls of other mammals (and some birds), until finally forming a series of portraits of animal remains of diverse origin and identical final destination. I think of these drawings as a consideration on the equality of everything that is alive in the face of death, and on the loss of identity traits to which these heads are subjected, as they gradually get cleaned and whitened.

   Here, the mineral nature of bones marks the inexorable passing of time.
